SOCIAL EVENTS PROGRAMME RELEASED
The special social events are one of the most appreciated aspects of Cowes Classics Week and for 2023 we have built on the successful formula of the past but added some new ideas.
Go to the website to book events for you and your crew. The prices are discounted until 9th June to encourage early booking. This helps us plan efficiently and save costs which can be passed on to competitors.
For early arrivals there is a BBQ at the RLYC on Saturday 8th July and the very popular CCYC Hog Roast will include a special guest appearance and live music on Monday 10th.
The tides this year have enabled us to include a Pie Night on Tuesday at RVYC Wootton. The MV 'Jenny M' will ferry guests from Trinity Landing and a chartered coach will return everyone to Cowes at the end of the evening. All transport is included in the ticket price. Numbers are limited so please book early!
Other favourite events include a carvery at the ISC on Wednesday and the Regatta Dinner at RLYC on Thursday, preceded by a drinks reception at the RYS Pavilion.
For those who don’t want to leave Cowes at the end of the regatta there is a survivors’ curry night on Friday 14th July.
Racing is daily, Monday to Friday, with the greatly appreciated competitors’ Tea and Cakes served every day after racing at the RLYC. This together with the Friday afternoon prize giving is generously sponsored by Evelyn Partners who will have representatives at the regatta throughout the week.
Cowes Classics Day has become an exciting part of Cowes Classics Week since the inaugural event in 2021. This year promises to be better than ever with up to 60 classic and interesting cars displayed on The Parade with their owners available to discuss their provenance. On the Trinity Landing will be the 93‘ MV Lilian, a gentleman’s yacht built in 1916, together with a couple of well-known Fairey Marine power boats and a Cat boat kindly displayed afloat by the Cowes Classic Boat Museum. Gastronomy will provide a food tent and the RLYC will be offering Afternoon Tea.
Major Mick is expected to arrive en route from Yarmouth to Bembridge in his craft TINTANIC, no doubt pursued by a BBC film crew, and If the weather is as kind as it usually, a WWII aircraft will provide a spectacular flypast overhead during the day.
Cowes Classics Week is organised by sailors for sailors and affectionately known as the “Goodwood of the Seas”. It’s the biggest regatta of its type in the world, made possible by over 90 volunteers and sailed from the spiritual home of yacht racing.
It should not be missed!
