YTC Rating System - Handicap Racing Classes.
This year, as set out in the Notice of Race, we have decided to use the YTC Rating system for our mixed handicap racing classes for Cowes Classic Regatta.
The YTC rating system is running jointly by the RYA and the RORC rating office as is free system for all competitors and organisers. It is gaining increasing popularity, with around 1800 boats already having obtained rating. Each boat’s rating is visible for everyone on-line. It can also handle production boats as well as one offs. The number it generates is similar to a RYA Portsmouth yardstick number, where the lower the number the quicker your boat is.
So to obtain a rating please follow this link: https://www.rya.org.uk/racing/technical/handicap-systems/aera-ytc
There is a simple process to follow, providing details about your boat. Once complete please submit your rating certificate to
If you are having any issues with getting your rating, email the regatta secretary with your boat details and, if you have one, your existing IRC rating.
Finally, don’t forget to book your tickets for the various social events taking place during the regatta with full details provided here.
We look forward to seeing you all next Friday.
